
Quality Department Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
Tolerance Masters Inc is a precision machine shop located in Circle Pines, MN. We specialize in the manufacturing of close tolerance flight safety and critical performance machines parts and sub-assemblies.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Intern to join our Quality Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering or manufacturing student to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The intern will support quality initiatives related to quality processes and compliance.
This position provides exposure to real-world quality systems, manufacturing operations, and regulatory standards, making it ideal for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
HOURS: Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with data entry for quality metrics, nonconformance reports, and inspection records.
- Organize and maintain quality documentation and records in compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 standards
- Support the creation, revision, and control of work instructions, inspection checklists, and quality procedures.
- Help track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), audit findings, and process deviations
- Collaborate with quality engineers to document and update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in root cause investigations and assist in gathering supporting documentation
- Assist with internal audits and inspection readiness activities
- Shadow quality inspections and gain familiarity with tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs
- Perform other administrative or technical support tasks as assigned by the quality team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field; Or an associate's degree in manufacturing relevant to CNC Machining or Quality Technician roles
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn in a manufacturing setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with quality management systems
- Exposure to CAD software, statistical tools, or ERP systems
- Previous coursework or lab work related to quality, metrology, or process engineering

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment; moderate to high levels of dirt, noise, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, fumes, chemicals/solvents, and electrical hazards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, etc. is to be worn as applicable throughout the entire shift.
