Engineering Co-Op and Mandarin Interpreter

Purpose of the Position: As a Co-op Interpreter at Corning, you will have the unique opportunity to apply your engineering skills in a practical environment while also serving as a key communication bridge between our Mandarin-speaking and English-speaking teams. This role combines hands on work experience with language interpretation to facilitate seamless project execution and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of projects.
• Work closely with teams to support project objectives and timelines.
• Interpret spoken communication between English and Mandarin speakers in real-time on the manufacturing floor, especially during training sessions, safety briefings, technical discussions, and collaborative learning activities.
• Facilitate communication among team members, trainers, and trainees to ensure clear understanding and successful learning outcomes.
• Convey the meaning, tone, and context of the original speech while maintaining a high level of accuracy and clarity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and understanding.
• Participate in problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts.
• Contribute to project documentation and reporting.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure the accuracy of interpreted information.

Education & Experience

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or Business Disciplines (Required)
• Fluent in both Mandarin and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages (Required)
• Strong grasp of engineering principles and technical knowledge.
• Coursework in engineering design and analysis.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
